As Governor Bayh from Massachusetts considers a run for the 2008 presidential race, the news organizations and blogs are all over the fact that the Governor is a Mormon. "Is the country ready for a Mormon President?"President Kennedy was asked the same basic question about being Roman Catholic. And we all know about the run from Joe Lieberman, who is Jewish by faith, and heritage. We even have a Moslem in our next term legislative body.
We, as a nation need to stop painting a picture of our candidates with a religious persuasion brush. Even more so, we need to stop asking about our leaders religious persuasions to stop every politician from going through these inevitable charades of pretending to be church goers. It is ludicrous to think that every senator and representative in American is religious. In my mind, it has absolutely no bearing on the measure of a candidate at all.
George W. claims to be a regular church goer. And look how many deaths he is responsible for?
